JANUARY 2013 NEWSLETTER

James Lindenschmidt, General Manager of RealTraps, here with the January newsletter. We hope everyone enjoyed the holiday season and are settling in to a happy, fruitful, and great-sounding 2013. We do have a few things in the pipeline for 2013, but at the moment we are full steam ahead keeping up with all the new inquiries coming in and the orders already in our shipping queue! Thus far, it looks like 2013 will allow us to continue our mission - Making The World Sound Better, One Room At A Time - at a faster rate than ever.

CUSTOMER TESTIMONIAL: Bruce Tambling

This month's testimonial comes from Bruce Tambling. Bruce is an audio engineer, composer, and teacher. He has engineered and produced hundreds of albums for major record labels including Motown, Windham Hill, Sony, BMG, Atlantic, Tommy Boy, and Warner Brothers. Bruce has also composed music soundtracks for many feature films and TV shows including 20th Century Fox, New World Pictures, PBS, CNN, NBC, HBO, NASA, Apple Computer, Nissan, and BMW. Bruce is Director of Music Technology at Foothill College and continues to actively engineer/produce music in the San Francisco Bay Area.

"We thoroughly researched acoustical treatment products and did serious due diligence purchasing bass traps and diffusors from six different companies. RealTraps won hands down in all categories: build quality, customer support, care in packaging and, most importantly, sound quality. RealTraps products deliver broadband absorption and diffusion not available from companies that use mineral wool. We returned everything and kept the RealTraps products. RealTraps are not the least [or the most! --ed.] expensive products in the world, but we found them to be superior to all the competition we evaluated. RealTraps products are designed with solid construction and materials built to last. The combination of MegaTraps, MondoTraps and Diffusors have transformed the sound quality of our rooms beyond our highest expectations. They sound amazing and look beautiful. Thanks!" --Bruce Tambling Director Music Technology, Foothill College, Los Altos Hills, CA, and Audio Engineer at Suspect Studios, San Jose, Calif

NEW VIDEO: Music Theory Video Course

For the past several months, RealTraps co-owner Ethan Winer has been hard at work on a new video series to teach music theory. As he writes:

"When I wrote my book The Audio Expert I intended to include a chapter on music theory because it ties into the big picture of 'how audio works.' But the book was already at my publisher's size limit, so I created this video, and put it on YouTube for all to access for free. Explaining music theory makes more sense as a video anyway, since a video can include music as audio to accompany the written examples. This video packs a college-level course into about 2-1/2 hours using detailed explanations and familiar musical examples. However, it includes more than just music theory, such as showing playing techniques for musical instruments, plus a segment about orchestra conductors. Because of its length, the video is divided into five segments, organized in this YouTube Play List."

This video should be interesting both to recording folks who want to learn more about how music works, as well as to audiophiles who want to deepen their understanding of the music they love so much.

THE JANUARY SPECIAL

For this month's special, we are continuing our blowout of TriCorners (normally $269.99 each) at $400 for a pair! TriCorners are a great companion piece to our Corner MondoTrap, with the same beveled edge design that allows them to appear to be only one inch thick when installed. They are the ideal treatment for trihedral corners in a room, where two walls meet the ceiling or floor. From a physics aspect these spots often exhibit the strongest bass buildup in the room, so TriCorners are a great solution to bring the low end under control. Put them above or below your existing panel traps in the wall/wall corners. At this price you can afford to treat all eight tri-corners!

No substitutions are permitted on this offer. This offer is good until January 31, 2013.

See you next month!
