AUGUST NEWSLETTER

James Lindenschmidt, General Manager of RealTraps, here again for the August Newsletter. This one is a doozy, with lots of great information (and a few surprises) to share with you.

NEW VIDEO IS OUT!

The video I mentioned last month, Recording Strategies Using RealTraps, is now online! This video features Robb Kavjian from 1476 performing one of his songs at the RealTraps factory, and shows our strategy to record him. You can adapt this technique for your own personal recording space (or any unfamiliar space) using RealTraps panels and good engineering technique to get great results. The video can be seen on the RealTraps web site, and also in higher resolution on YouTube. We hope the information is interesting to anyone interested in recording, either as an engineer or audiophile. Check it out!

NEW PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT

We are now taking orders for the QuietZone! This product is a larger entry in our recording booth product line, joining its little brothers the Portable Vocal Booth and the Carrel, and is equally useful for our recording and voiceover customers:

The RealTraps QuietZone ($599.99) is a portable recording booth that's large enough to create a quiet and acoustically dead recording environment for many recording applications. It's ideal for singers and voiceover artists, as well as brass players. The QuietZone is equally useful as a cell phone "privacy station" in restaurants, airports, and other noisy locations. It assembles easily with just a screwdriver, and at 6'7" high even very tall people can be accommodated.

The QuietZone features a much larger, free-standing setup with three times the absorbing surface area of the RealTraps Portable Vocal Booth, and double the surface area of the RealTraps Carrel. Available fabric colors are black, white, wheat, and gray, though the metal frame and legs come in black only. We're now taking orders now, so please contact us to get your order in.

RealTraps is owned by Ethan Winer and Doug Ferrara. James Lindenschmidt, General Manager, handles the day-to-day operations outside of the factory. Ethan is known throughout the audio industry for his many technical articles in audio and computer magazines, and he has engineered and produced several classical music CDs, including a recording of his own cello concerto. Doug is a professional musician and recording engineer who holds an advanced degree in engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic, and is a member of the New York Academy of Sciences. Previously he was a systems engineer for Motorola. James has been listening to, playing, and recording music since he was a child, for nearly 30 years. His degree is in philosophy.
